The founders know RFID technology well: combined, they have over twelve years of prior experience deploying systems in manufacturing facilities. During those years they were recipients of many Six Sigma awards for process improvement, (Six Sigma is a disciplined, data-driven methodology for eliminating defects and measuring quality).

What the founders encountered with RFID technology, was a confusing and expensive infrastructure, difficult deployment and integration, inaccuracies and unreliability. And with ever-changing WiFi (802.11) wireless LAN technology adding to the confusion, the founders knew that there had to be a more simple and cost effective solution with an easier method of implementation!

Dedicated to building an efficient, turn-key RFID/RTLS solution, the founders began their research and development in 2005 at the business incubator of the Okanagan Research and Innovation Centre housed at Dominion Radio Astrophysics Observatory (DRAO), the Canadian National Research Council Facility. There they developed RFind’s patent pending Tag to Tag™ communication technology, launching their first system in October 2006 at APICS in Orlando, Florida.

This simplified technology derives accurate data from a variety of sources without the need for expensive implementation or architecture. Established on an unobtrusive and stable 900 Mhz. (Europe 868 Mhz) ISM band, the system isn’t dependant on a WLAN network nor is it affected by electromagnetic transmissions or metal typically found within industrial plants and yards. Operating in the harshest of environments the system delivers strong, long range signalling: making it ideal for both inside and outdoors. When the environment changes, the system will self-adjust and establish location.
